MEMET BILGIN RIGOLO –
SHOWMAN MEETS SCHAMAN
Memet Bilgin Rigolo joined Rigolo Swiss Cirque Nouveau for a role in the 2008 show “Beautiful Turns”. A Canadian with Turkish roots, he performed one of the world’s most beautiful aerial silk partner dances with Senn Anis. Love proved transient but when Maedir Eugster was looking for a successor for his engagement on Broadway, Memet was ready for a new artistic challenge and quickly learned the “Sanddorn Balance” as well as the act “Spintop On Driftwood”. Memet toured Australia until mid-2014 and is currently performing in Quebec, Canada. His particular take on the “Sanddorn Balance”: unlike the other performers who remove the feather from the structure to conclude their act, Memet makes it fall by breathing. This underlines the fragility of the whole construction!
Maedir Eugster Rigolo: “Memet is a very talented artist and craftsman. He even makes his own boats! It is natural to him to care for the Sanddorn ribs and to collect them for himself. Memet has now been touring successfully for a whole year in Australia– Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. After 400 performances in the show EMPIRE he will be a senior Sanddorn Balance performer – a modern shaman!”
