COSTUMES AND STAGE DESIGN AS ART WORK
Costume designer Christa Roth is responsible for most of the unique Rigolo costumes. Together with visionary Lena Roth, she has brought the extraordinary into being. In MONDAUFGANG (“Moonrise”) it was the extravagant Percht costumes, in TÄNZEN DER KÖNIGIN VON SABA (“The Dances of the Queen of Saba”) the magnificent regal gowns, and in GEISTER DER ERDE (“Ghosts of the Earth”) the flying wings of the water nymphs. Sometimes the transition between costume and object is fluid, such as the costumes of the sea snails: The built-in spring wire brought a special magic to the costume. But the project richest in stage décor was DIE TÄNZEN DER KÖNIGIN VON SABA, a ritualistic performance that was exclusively performed in churches.
